彼得·福克的右眼在他3歲時因惡性腫瘤而被摘除，因此他一生中多數時間都帶着個義眼。
彼得·福克事業
早期彼得·福克的職業生涯開始於舞台劇，他於1957年這個“電視的黃金時代”初次在電視上露面。
1961年他因在電視劇The Law and Mr. Jones的Cold Turkey那一集獲得艾美獎的連續短劇/電視電影最佳男配角提名。1962年他因電視劇The Price of Tomatoes而獲得第一次艾美獎。
1968年2月20日，彼得·福克在《神探可倫坡》試播片“Prescription: Murder”中初次飾縯可倫坡，並獲得了極大的成功。隨着第二集試播片“Ransom For a Dead Man”的成功，1971年9月15號《神探可倫坡》正式開始在NBC神秘之夜節目中與其它警匪片循環輪流播出，後來更是成為NBC神秘之夜的壓軸戲。該劇成為他的代表作，同時令他登上其事業的顛峯。
彼得·福克逝世
2007年底，他因為牙科手術而患上阿茲海默病，2009年時已經記不得Columbo這個角色。
