多年以前

多年以前是一首愛爾蘭民歌，原名為《Long， Long Ago》。這首歌曲是英國歌曲作家、劇作家托馬斯·黑恩·貝理（Thomas Haynes Bayly, 1797-1839）於1833年創作的。他創作的其它歌曲還包括《Gaily the Troubadour》。

這首歌曲在十年後才發表，當時貝理已經去世。當一家費城雜誌的編輯Rufus Griswold在1843年出版一個貝理的詩歌和歌曲選集的時候，這首歌曲第一次與世人見面。貝理本來給這首曲子命名《The Long Ago》，是Griswold將其改為《Long, Long Ago》。這首歌曲立即流行，併成為1843年全美最流行的歌曲。
