埃德温·鮑特

美國電影導演。1896年在電影創始時代起，就從事攝影與放映工作，是美國電影史上先驅人物。1900年前後，主持愛迪生實驗室工作，着手攝製新聞紀錄片。1903年開始導演影片。1911年離開愛迪生公司，就任雷克斯公司的導演。1903年執導了世界電影史上的經典影片《火車大劫案》，採用了分鏡頭法、內景與外景的迭印、移動鏡頭和大特寫鏡頭，打破了梅里愛戲劇規則，創造出美國西部片的最初風格。主要作品還有：《基督山恩仇記》(1913)、《不朽的城市》等。
