地球之歌

傑克遜已經有一個長期的投身慈善或社會事業的歷史，傑克遜用自己的名望和財富來促進各種慈善事業，他曾在1985年創作慈善歌曲《天下一家》 ^[1]  。

這首歌曲創作自1995年，當時世界戰爭不斷，污染越來越嚴重，在那樣的歷史背景下，邁克爾傑克遜親自作詞，作曲以及編曲和製作，創作了《地球之歌》 ^[2]  。

《地球之歌》 ^[3]  （Earth Song）最初以《我們呢》（What About Us）的名字為《危險》（Dangerous）專輯而作，後經重新制作和優化，入選了《歷史》（HIStory）專輯。

首周即勇奪冠軍位置並蟬聯6周第一名，成為英國單曲榜歷史上最重要的聖誕檔期冠軍曲。在整個歐洲大陸《地球之歌》幾乎都是前5名的單曲。

歌詞以設問的形式展開，引人反思。這首歌代表了傑克遜靈魂裏的許多東西。 ^[4] 

音樂錄影以倒放鏡頭的拍攝製作手法，在熒幕上完成了一個現實中永遠不可能實現的夢境。這部天真而煽情的短片引起了世人的共鳴，然而這個已經充滿危機的世界的真正得救之道，還在於人類自身的覺醒、即刻的行動和不懈的努力。 ^[5] 

《地球之歌》音樂錄像的導演是尼克·勃蘭特，這部mv被許多人認為是邁克爾·傑克遜拍攝過的最棒的音樂錄影。

傑克遜在片中扮演一個失落的救世主形象，他為被人為破壞的環境、被無辜屠戮的野生動物和被戰火摧殘的世界而悲泣，該片最具震撼性和戲劇性的場面在末尾：各地心受創傷的人們與邁克爾·傑克遜一道，在焦土上以一種古老而奇特儀式呼喚神力。大地之母最終響應。在狂風怒號、閃電雷鳴中，在邁克爾·傑克遜近乎絕望的嘶喊中，死者復活，萬物重生 ^[5]  。

視頻四個地方拍攝，第一個位置是亞馬遜熱帶雨林，其中很大一部分在視頻在完成一週後銷燬。出演的是該地區的土著人 ^[6]  。

第二個場景是在克羅地亞戰爭區，克羅地亞演員Slobodan Dimitrijević和該地區的居民出演 ^[6]  。

第三位是坦桑尼亞，它結合了非法偷獵和捕殺到視頻場景。沒有動物在《地球之歌》真正出演，影片均來自文獻檔案 ^[6]  。
