六月新娘

“六月新娘”（June bride）是由June的語源Juno而來的。在羅馬神話裏，朱諾（Juno）是天帝朱庇特（Jupiter）之妻，也是女性、婚姻和母性之神（the goddess of womanhood, of marriage and of maternity），集美貌、温柔、慈愛於一身，她也是相當於希臘神話裏天帝宙斯（Zeus）之妻赫拉（Hera）。

西洋人有些俗話，例如“April shower, May storm”（四月陣雨，五月風暴）表示四、五月天候不佳，尤其不適宜結婚，所謂“Marry in May, you'll repent the day”（五月婚嫁，悔對當日）。那麼該在什麼時候結婚最好呢？西洋人最羨慕“六月新娘”（June bride），認為“Marry in June－Good to the man and happy to the maid. ”（結婚在六月－新郎幸福，新娘快樂。），於是便有了“六月新娘”的説法。
