本科畢業於重慶大學工程力學專業，於浙江大學獲得固體力學碩士學位，於浙江大學獲得固體力學博士學位，現為湖南大學機械與運載工程學院力學系博導。

1991.8-1994.8，國營湘凌機械廠從事設計工作；

2002.7-現在，湖南大學工程力學系從事科研和教學工作，期間擔任過機械與運載工程學院副院長；

2002.11-2003.5，由香港Croucher基金資助，在香港城市大學做訪問學者；

2011.6-2012.7，在美國加州大學洛杉磯分校做訪問學者。 ^[1] 

主要研究方向

在工程與結構分析/智能材料和結構/新型複合材料等方面深入研究。如今其在壓電接觸，塗層結構，複合材料力學性能分析等方面有深入研究。 ^[1] 

主持和參加國家863項目3項、國家自然科學基金項目4項、國防預研項目3項、國家航空推進技術驗證計劃1項、中國博士後基金1項、湖南省自然科學基金1項、湖南省青年骨幹教師基金1項、湖南大學育英基金1項；發表SCI收錄學術論文62篇，被SCI文章引用200餘次。 ^[1]
