廣泛分佈於自然界中。

用　途：

在印度尼西亞，中國，日本，米根黴被用來發酵生產食品和酒精飲料，該菌屬幹生性菌，能引起含水量低的糧食發熱黴變，陳糧易染病。乳糖酶生產菌種。

形　態：

分生孢子頭大小不一，直徑100~250um。初球形，後裂為幾個疏鬆的短柱。分生孢子梗長短不一，頂囊球形或近球形，小梗雙層，在頂囊全部着生。分生孢子球形至近球形，光滑，大小2.5—3，5um。菌落特徵：呈絨狀,初為白色,老後為淡黃色,背面無色或淺黃色。

培　養：

葡萄糖，瓊脂培養基，温度30℃，最適生長温度28℃，相對濕度72%~75%。
