勞林思已經出演了包括《威爾伯想自殺》（Wilbur Wants to Kill Himself）在內的幾部電影，還曾在《哈利·波特》系列電影中擔任配角——哈利的父親詹姆·波特（James Potter）。也曾在舞台劇《她赤裸的肌膚》（Her Naked Skin，國家大劇院，2008）。勞林思在1989年的電視連續劇《姜樹》（The Ginger Tree）中飾演Samantha Bond的對門鄰居Richard Collingsworth。他還出演了於1989年聖誕節播出的電視劇《黑衣女人》（The Woman in Black）。
